An 1857 Model Smith .52 caliber rifle. The serial number "19/19259/259" is stamped in front of the trigger guard. Stamped on the left side of the frame is "Manufactured by Mass. Arms Co, Chicopee Falls, Address: Poultney & Trimble, Baltimore, USA." On the hinged sight top of barrel is "Smith's Patent June 23, 1857." The rifle measures: 39.12 in. (l) and the barrel measures: 4.6 in. (h) x 2 in. (w).
