In 1920-21 there were received 850 manuscripts as a part of a nationalized library [collection] of well-known collector P. M. Maltzev, balakovskiy grain merchant and Old Belief figure. If the collection of I. A. Shlyapin reflected the interests of collector who was a historian of ancient (old) Russian literature including Old Belief literature, then the books of P. M. Maltzev presented first of all the true Old Believer. The significant part of the collection was the manuscripts of divine-service type, compositions of Old Believers, pieces of divine-polemic [spiritual-polemic] content. P. M. Maltzev mainly collected what could be served as a protection of Old Belief and as a collector he was attracted by various books. [under the picture it is written; P. M. Maltzev]
