The important part of Old Belief song book is presence of hooked lines. It is known that Old Believers did not accept European linear notation started to be used in XVII century. They fairly thought that especial [particular] order of Old Russian Church singing should correspond to the same especial written form. "...It's transferring to the another style since it is not possible to catch singing by hooks via using a Western note", -says the hero of N. Leskov's narrative "The Engraved Angel". They [Old believers] also did not accept polyphonic [partesnyy] style of singing for their divine services. But then, the demestvennyy singing and corresponding notation became very popular in the Old Believers' community [environment].
