Western Trails explored the adaptability/adoptability of the Colorado Digitization Project model for collaboration among cultural heritage institutions, focusing digitization efforts on a statewide basis. The State Libraries of Wyoming, Nebraska, and Kansas led these explorations. This collection represents the Western Trails contributions from the State of Wyoming.

Fourth Segment Of The Oregon Trail: Tom Sun Ranch To South Pass
Trek No. 23 of the Historical Trail Treks was held in June 1972 and covered a segment of the Oregon trail from the Tom Sun Ranch to South Pass. Two Hundred eighty people were hosted by Carbon County Chapter and Fremont County Chapter of the Wyoming State Historical Society. Presentations were made at the following locations: 1) The Story of the Sun Ranch by Mrs. Tom Sun, Sr.; 2) Handcarts to Heaven by Bill Bragg, Jr.; 3) The Split Rock Telegraph and Pony Express Station by Beulah Walker; 4) Castle Rock by Henry Jensen; 5) The three crossings of the Sweetwater by Florence Kirk; 6) The story of Fort Stambaugh by Ida Lewis; 7) Story of Atlantic City by Tom Shaffer; and 8) Story of South Pass by Norman Dickinson. Trek No. 26 of the Historical Trail Treks was hosted by the Carbon County Chapter of the Wyoming State Historical Society in July 1975. The trek covered the first segment (Rawlins to Lander) of the Freight and Stage Road from Rawlins, Wyoming to Red Lodge, Montana. The Five Cent and Ten Cent US paper currency. The front has an ornate border. The top right corner contains a framed oval area. In the left corner is a twelve sided shield with Five Cents or Ten Cents. Below the shield is "Good Only For Merchandise and Produce at the General Tithing Store House." Starting at the right is "General Tithing Store House" above a design containing Five Cents or Ten Cents. In the lower corner is a domed beehive design and "Presiding Bishops Office Salt Lake City, Utah." On the reverse side is a depiction of the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City in a center circle with a side design Five Cents or Ten Cents. Goldilocks Revisited
Emigrant trail diaries and reminiscences speak of events on the trail where Native Americans were fascinated by fair-skinned, golden-haired emigrant children. It was not uncommon for Indians to offer horses in trade for white children whether the stories were tales of folklore or whether they were actual experiences is the subject of Goldilocks Revisited.
