This report gives details on the mathematical modeling of a whole shale oil hydrotreating unit. This unit is designed to operate in the range from complete desulfurization to complete denitrification. Equations were derived that describe the operations of a commercial scale hydrotreating - input, output, capital cost, and operating cost. These equations were rewritten in the form required by the Materials-Process-Product Model. The design basis for the capital costs is a 10,000 BPD hydrotreating train. Also included in this report are sample calculations relating to a 50,000 BPD shale oil hydrotreating unit.
