The piece is oil paint on stretched canvas. Large pallet knives were used to add and scrape away paint to create the appearance of rust. Oil paint was used to create both richness and depth of color.
Decrepit spaces, objects, and machines often go unnoticed. These scenes can be made beautiful by placing them in a different context, one that explores color, composition, and light. The scenes also demonstrate the effect time has on the environment, and how quickly things can fall into ruins.
